With the success of the Nano, the global car industry took notice and many of them scrambled to put together a competitor. We've heard murmurs about Suzuki planning one, which was later denied. Other manufacturers like Nissan-Renault have been quite open about their plans to make a car for the emerging markets around the World.

However, it is in the pages of a Japanese magazine that we can see an artist's representation of what Toyota seems to be planning. While their Etios hatchback and sedan are expected to do quite well, this pint-sized competitor to the Nano should occupy a seperate segment unaffected by the sales of most other cars in India. Rumours are that Toyota are planning an extremely frugal micro-hatchback with an 800CC 2 Cylinder engine that should offer about 30 kilometres/litre of fuel efficiency. While speculating about the cost would be futile right now, we can expect Toyota to price the car competitively and go on to sell hundreds of thousands of cars just in India itself.
